Paul
Paul started his musical career playing bass in a 1970's folk band & has really returned to his roots when forming Sylvanne. Since the early days he has played Sax, Guitar & Keyboards in various line ups covering most popular musical styles, in particular writing & performing musical comedy with Dawn around the UK club circuit. Paul's influences are taken from folk, jazz & rock styles & he has also studied early music interpretation & composition.
Ted
Ted is the bands character & is only allowed out of Norfolk under special licence. He has a huge repertoire of Irish material, not only all the popular sing along favourites but also sad, comic & songs of lost love. Ted's love of music came from listening to the great gunfighter ballads of Marty Robbin's and after acquiring his first guitar in the late sixties he has ‘jammed' in local pubs with Cat Stevens along with Cat's guitarist Allun Davis. 1979 found him driving a truck on a 4 week rock ‘n' roll tour of Scandinavia with Suzi Quatro. Always supported by his wife Yvonne, who never stands in the way of his many 'hare brained schemes' Ted went on to play in, and form, duo's & bands and to organising ‘open mic' nights leading up to where he is today, and in Ted's own words “ So now we have ‘Sylvanne', Dawn with the voice of an angel, Pauls amazing fretless bass and six string, Amanda and her electric fiddle and me, Ted, with whatever contribution I make”.
