The First Reedham Duck Race was held between the Railway Swing Bridge and the Norfolk Broads Authority Station on the riverside outside the Lord Nelson. This took part on the Sunday of the Reedham Riverside Beer Festival that was being held at the Lord Nelson over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.
It was great to see the village out young and old to see the mass of yellow plastic duck bobbing along the Yare. As well as many supporters that came to the village. Each person that bought a ticket was given a small plastic duck to take home with them as a reminder of this great family day out.
The event was put on to raise money for the local school and saw 1200 people descend on the village to see over 700 ducks released. This fantastic event raised over £1000 for the school and will be repeated in 2010. The event was organised by the Reedham Mountain Rescue Council. Yes we no that Norfolk and the Broads has no mountains its just for fun.
